My Story

Hello I am Para La Russa  the owner and founder of Art Z Camp.

I love working with children and have done so for more than 10 years. After college, I started working in the ‘.com’ world for a number of years before migrating to the bright lights of the movie industry.

I worked for the CEO of DreamWorks in the animation studio that created movies such as Shrek, Kung Fu Panda, How to Train Your Dragon and Madagascar. After becoming a mother to two beautiful, talented girls (now age 12 and 18 ),  my career objectives changed.

I have many years of experience with art and design. I first grabbed a paintbrush at the age of two and haven't put it down since. Over the years I have dabbled in web design, logos, e-greeting cards, invitations, business cards, and stationery.

I am currently writing and illustrating a children’s book series about a space cat named Kevin.

Art is a passion that runs through my veins; my grandmother, who was also an art teacher, gave me the opportunity to learn first-hand how to create, and how to inspire others to do the same.

Over the past 8 years, I have enjoyed being an art teacher in Burlingame, Ca. school district.

I've taught school-wide art enrichment programs that I created for 1000+ students from kindergarten through fifth grade. I'm currently running multiple after-school art programs and work with children of all levels of experience, including ones with special needs. My art camps have grown over the past 8 years from starting humbly out of my garage to now where I run my art programs in multiple cities throughout the Bay Area.

I enjoy helping in the local community and volunteer for many different charities and fundraisers for schools and church events. I love making collaborative pieces to donate and help art reach the ones that truly need it. I have been an active member of the National Art Education Foundation and of the California Art Education Association for many years, volunteering my time to create murals and participate in local school fundraisers with the goal of improving the community and bringing the world of art to all.

Now that I have achieved many of the goals that I have set for myself I would like to share what I have learned with others so that art may bring joy, happiness and hope.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story, I would love the opportunity to help you write yours.
